Of the few rival lands to Elsgadir, Notoria remains the hosts to the caverns of Werneth Mon'tu. While the caverns themselves are not to fault, those that dwell within are the source of the great Kauhl's ever expanding army and ambition. Were the depths not so highly guarded by the dark elves, many would marvel at the millennia's of structural adaptation and fantastic elements that thrive within. Rich, vibrant gems are embedded into the cavern walls and emit a radiance that are not natural to the outer world. The hands that contributed to it's appearance are artful and have designed every hall magnificent enough for a king. Unfortunately, only the Drow and their slaves will ever come to witness it's glory as outsiders are forbidden and killed on site.

Werneth Mon'tu is home to one of the three fabricated copies of the book of shadows and remains in the power hungry grasp of their leader, Nhil O'char Vez.

With this book, he spreads the arcane of undeath and the elements unto his people so that they may serve Kauhl as an army. While many of the Drow would like to willingly come and go fro the caverns so that they may explore the Northern lands, they are forbidden to leave without good reason. Only those unfit for the clan will be slaughtered or permanently banished, left to the dangerous elements which haunt Notoria. Any who challenge Nhil will always find certain death, for in the thousand years of his existence, he has never been dethroned.
