Saurian

The most ancient of kings, the stories of fireside tables, those half man and half divine have finally resurfaced from middle earth . Whence the dragonborn prevails will we truly all find freedom.
Primeval anecdotes claim that the oldest species of Notoria were the sons and daughters of Ancient Dragons, reptilian humanoids known an Saurian. Dragons, known to dwell in the depths of caverns for their cold and humid climates, would come to love the creatures of these underworlds and thus the Saurian came to be.
Saurian are the reptilian natives of Tel Tarkal, a vast swampland province in southwestern corner of the world. The burrows of their homes were so grand that many claimed they were the keepers of inner earth. Many other races often refer to them as "lizards" or the "Lizard Folk" instead, especially when meaning to be derogatory. They are known as the foremost experts in guerrilla warfare throughout Tel Tarkal, a reputation brought upon them by defending their borders from enemies for countless centuries. However, their boarders were eventually raided by both Black and White dragons- which had been banished to the book of shadows and re-released through an incantations portal. These Dragons either rage freely or under the command of Nhil O'Char, the Drow superior and because of this, Saurian were forced to take solace in Elsgadir.
Due to the forced removal of their homelands, Saurian weep for their loss and build their allies amongst the Dwarves, Faerun and Altmer.
Due to their unsightly appearance, many humans and a minority of Fae often condemn them on this alone but their ambitions are greater than pointless elegant facades. Regardless, many of the apprentices even deem them the saviors of the future- Dragonborn- as olden tales bid they will redeem the lands in their name. Hope in hand, the Saurian thrive to reclaim their homelands with a terrible hatred for the immoral sovereign.
Physical Appearance
As descendants of the most sizable creatures, Saurian stand tall and noble, averaging about eight to nine feet in height as the tallest of the apprentices. Their flesh is sturdy, protected by a thick layer of scales that vary in breadth, each acutely tapered and winking against daylight. While their limbs are akin to the dimensions of humans, their snouts are protracted with a triangular taper to them, accented by varying horns from Saurian to Saurian.
Their tongues protract up to a foot in length and divides partially down the middle into two equal parts. Involuntarily, this can happen when the Saurian is uncomfortable or agitated.
Their tails are also broader than that of the tiefling and virtually impossible to hide beneath clothing, featuring an extension of their horns upon this extra limb, which can range from a few inches to half a foot.
All Saurian covet milder climates and given the balmy setting of Elsgadir, they are often seen in loose, papery garbs. It is not uncommon for Saurian to travel up north for Elovia during Summer seasons, which their attire will alter for something more tight nit and roguish.
Shades of the Saurian's scales can range from Crimson, Jade, Cobalt, Sandstone, Aurelian and even Ivory.
Lifespan
Unfortunately, the lifespan of the Saurian has declined. What was once a race known to live for as long as thousands of years would come to dwindle with the raid of their homelands and the unfit climates of Elsgadir. For this reason, in the past two centuries, none have witnessed a Saurian folk to make it past only 60 years of age.
Common Locations
Reproduction
Reproduction amongst the Saurian is very restrictive, as they are only able to rarely reproduce in their own group and that of humans. When a positive pregnancy occurs with human pairs, the offspring will always come back as either entirely human or entirely Saurian as there are no half-breeds of Saurian.
