Centaur

"A tangle of flesh and mind, divine inspiration and dust. The mythical beasts that do not speak well for mortal imagination, complex pastiches of nature."
Hundreds of years ago, Centaurs and humans held an apparent disdain for one another. In the years Elovia’s current king Rathien reigned, he feared the strength of these creatures, and deemed them an abomination to mortal society, spreading prejudism across the lands. In turn, this scorned the Centaurs from entering any keep under Elovian title, forcing them from the city. An aimless rivalry was formed and even after the sovereign’s death, the roots of this discriminatory nature would not dwindle amongst the many kings to follow. The Centaurs were even hunted by throngs of mortal men in these times, most of whom would find certain death in face of the Centaur’s valor and acclimation towards their climate in the woods.
Only when the book of shadows unraveled, would they come to share common ground again. King Faren was crowned just as every segment of land was threatened by Kauhl, elevating Elovian crime rates to an all time high. As the city began to crumble, Faren sparked a revolution by approaching the Centaurs with an offering of peace; should the Centaurs offer their protection, they would be granted access to the city again. Setting aside his pride for harmony amongst the races and Elsgadir’s future, the tribal leader agreed. While many Centaurs still remain in the forests that border the city, a great number would follow the king.
Physical Appearance
Built of compact, lean muscle on frames that stand as tall as seven feet in height, the Centaur can weigh up to 2,100 pounds. Their lower halves are constructed like that of a massive stallion, their upper halves that of man. These dominant creatures vary in shades of brown, beige and black, their hair often long and silken. A centaurs humanlike torso has a swarthy, earthy complexion. In some isolated tribes and rare individuals other colorings emerge, such as white, gray, or black, but these are extremely uncommon
Due to their ties with the forest over the past centuries, Centuar's have adapted elements of earth into their attire. Laced around their necks and throughout their hair are beads and feathers. Leather bound cloth or foliage can be used to conceal stark nature for those within the city or possessing's a more reserved air. Those on guard, in the city or forest, will fashion themselves in tribal paints to emblem their strength. Due to their passion in the arts and their pride in building a world from nothing, their creations are unique and often presumed vain. The most artful Centaur can be found in homes constructed through twisted tree bodies, thatched over with moss and stacked stones. Those more dedicated to the craft of combat might dwell within caves or the city of Elovia.
Lifespan
Centaur live a life thrice that of a mortal man. Their colt do not mature until the age of 50, and the elders are over the age of 200. A tribal leader must be an Elder and warrior.
Common Locations
Reproduction
The reproduction rate of Centaur is smaller than that of a human, a female centaur will likely only bear one to two offspring in her time of juvenescence. Most Centaur relations are monogamous, carrying a deeper bond than what is found in most human connections. Should two centaur court, a mock spar shall be held in the late Spring. In the case that more than one centaur is fighting for the affections of another, those of interest will spar instead. It is not uncommon for the weaker Centaur to lose their life in such battles.
